Hungarian Bride is an exhibition at the Hungarian National Museum showcasing wedding dresses spanning more than 500 years. It also explores the societal role of women in Hungary throughout history. Visitors can learn about the wedding stories of everyday women as well as royal and celebrity couples.
To complement the exhibition, a unique online photo archive was launched – the first of its kind in Hungary. This platform allows anyone to upload wedding photos of themselves, their friends, or relatives, preserving personal moments for the future.
Development
Within the exhibition space, visitors could browse through the above mentioned wedding archive in an enhanced, interactive way. Photos were fetched from a large database that is serving the original web archive collection. A custom UI allowed guests to filter images by year, highlighted features of the weddings, etc. My task was to communicate with this interface and display the selected images, highlighting the transitions with animations while also displaying information on a large LED screen.
Each day, thousands of images were preloaded from the database and visualized as a dynamic flock of slowly flowing photographs – creating a field of memories.
